How to Make Reusable Make-up Wipes

We have found the perfect way to use up all your Fabric scraps and it will help you live a little bit more waste free which is a bonus . I must admit that i have made so many of these for me and my mum and they are also great craft fair sellers.

What you Will need

The In the hoop Pattern From Pixie Willows
Fabric of your choice
A Stabiliser Ive used Water soluble
A fleece for padding (This Is optional)
And Towelling

Step 1

I am using the 8 x 12 Hoop which creates 6 of these cotton pads
I have uploaded the design on to a usb and loaded it on to my Embroidery machine
I then cut a the water soluble to fit my hoop which i am using As my Stabiliser and make sure this is secured tightly in the hoop.
I then place my hoop in my Machine and Do the first Placement Stitch

Step 2

Once the placement Stitch is finished take the hoop back out and if using a fleece padding place this over the placement stitch, make sure these are secured so they don't move i use a temporary sticky spray for this. Once Secured Place back under the machine and start the second lot of placement embroidery. If you are Not using fleece skip to step 3 .

Once this has finished i find it easier to Cut around the fleece padding but don't cut to close to stitching as it may not catch all the layers on the final stitch out

Step 3

Now its time to add your fabric. Ive cut a big enough fabric to cover the of my stitch out but if you Have smaller Scraps you can place them over each padding but once again make sure they are secured so they don't move and repeat step 2 for the cutting and embroidery.

Once you have finished the stitch out you now have the option to add the stitch detailing on the design. I am missing this stage out but to do so pick your detailing thread and do the stitch out before adding the towelling

Step 4

Now your ready to add your towelling. which i find the most trickiest stage as this goes on the bottom side of the hoop and i find it hard to keep flat but a bit of temporary sticky spray and some masking tape if you are really struggling should do the trick.
When placing the hoop back in the machine make sure the towelling is still lying flat with not bumps are folds. When using the bigger hoop i like to stay with it to make sure it stays flat.
Once stitch out is complete Cut round the towelling stitching but not to close as you want it all to catch in the satin stitch.

Step 5

Now its time for the final stitch out. Once all your layers are cut out, pop it back in the machine for the satin stitch that seals all the edges together. this is the longest stitch out. if you are using matching top thread an bobbin thread this is the time to switch the bobbin thread as well.

The pattern for these is from Pixie Willows Patterns
The fabric is from A Rainbow Of Stitches
The fleece is from A Rainbow Of Stitches i've used VLH630 low loft fleece
The stabiliser i've used is From A Rainbow if stitches and i used the Water Soluble Solvy Fabric Embroidery Backing
The Towelling is from Empress Mills  and its Terry Towelling
some people are using a plush fabric which is softer or bamboo towelling which is more eco friendly.
